The Biblioteca de Catalunya (BC) and the theatrical company Comediants have signed a collaboration agreement through which Comediants joins Padicat. This is the 400th  entity to join the group of companies, local governments, professional associations and associations from any kind which have become a member in the project that the BC is managing, with collaboration of CESCA (Centre de Supercomputació de Catalunya) and the Secretaria de Telecomunicacions i Societat de la Informació de la Generalitat de Catalunya . The aim of the project is to acquire, preserve and make available knowledge and information on the Internet of the day for coming generations and to create the Web archive of Catalonia.

The Padicat project is based on 3 working lines: the massive compilation of digital resources published in Internet, like the websites with the domain .CAT; the promotion of lines of research into certain events in the Catalan public life, like the campaign on the Internet to the next european elections, in process nowadays; and the impulse to the cooperation with the institutions representing Catalan civil society, in order to ensure that the different versions of their digital productions get incorporated systematically to the Padicat

In order to drive forward jointly the Patrimoni Digital de Catalunya (Digital Heritage of Catalonia), every time they are more the entities supporting Padicat through the signing of collaboration agreements. Since Padicat reached the milestone of 300 agreements on April 16, 2008, the BC, in addition to Comediants, has established more than 100 collaboration alliances from all fields of the Catalan civil society, amongst which they are: the Fundació Josep Pla, Unió de Federacions Esportives de Catalunya, Fundació Jacint Verdaguer, Patronat d’Estudis Osonencs, Club Natació Sant Andreu, Ajuntament de Manresa, Col·legi Oficial de Farmacèutics de Tarragona, Companyia T de Teatre, Federació Catalana de Futbol, Agència Catalana de Notícies, Societat General d’Aigües de Barcelona and much more.

Thanks to this agreement with Padicat these 400 institutions will ensure the digital preservation of their websites and their inclusion in the Digital Heritage of Catalonia, which at the same time allows the open and permanent access to the resources that are the result of the knowledge and the expression of the 21st Century developers, be they cultural, educational, scientific or administrative digital resources.
